This outdoor kitchen and pool renovation by Olde Florida Contracting reimagines backyard living with a blend of luxury finishes, expert craftsmanship, and functional design. The project includes a custom-built outdoor kitchen, granite countertops, wood-planked ceilings, and a full pool and deck resurfacing — creating a cohesive, modern space ideal for entertaining and relaxation.
Project Overview
From demolition to final finishes, our team managed every phase of this transformation. The result is a stylish and durable outdoor living area that complements the home’s architecture and enhances daily living in the Florida climate.
Demolition & Site Preparation
We began by removing the existing outdoor kitchen, appliances, backsplash tile, and concrete legs, as well as the screen enclosure above the ODK area. Landscaping was cleared in the planter corner to make way for new structural work, and irrigation lines were capped in preparation for new concrete pours.
To support the new layout, we trenched the lanai deck to run electrical lines for outlets and accent lighting, followed by high-strength concrete patching for a seamless finish.
Custom Outdoor Kitchen Construction
The new outdoor kitchen was designed for both style and function, featuring:
- Aluminum framing with 2×2 construction and Hardie backer sheathing
- Veneer stone walls selected by the client, grouted for a natural, high-end look
- Uba Tuba granite countertops with eased edge profile and a full-height granite backsplash behind the grill
- Undermount stainless steel sink installation
- Base feature wall adjacent to the grill, finished in matching veneer stone
- Natural gas line installed for the new grill
Lighting, Electrical & Ventilation
The lanai received a full electrical upgrade with modern, energy-efficient lighting and smart design:
- New circuits for grill exhaust hood and refrigerator
- Four LED can lights installed over the kitchen area
- Four additional can lights over the seating area
- Ceiling fan installation centered between light zones
- Power and accent lighting extended to a new freestanding bar area
- USB-equipped outlets for convenience
- A custom stainless steel exhaust system with blower motor and 8″ venting through the wall ensures safe, efficient ventilation for the grill area.
Finishing Touches
To complete the design, we incorporated high-end rustic and wood details for warmth and contrast:
- 8×8 rustic beams installed beside the stainless steel hood
- Southern Yellow Pine tongue-and-groove ceiling planks, finished in Ebony stain, with matching scribe molding for a polished perimeter finish
- Stucco and paint work were completed to seamlessly blend all new construction into the existing home design.
Pool & Deck Renovation
The pool and deck were fully updated to complement the new outdoor kitchen aesthetic:
- Existing stamped concrete deck removed and replaced with a wood-stamped concrete overlay
- Concrete reinforcement at planter areas for strength and continuity
- Integrated bullnose-style coping for a smooth transition between deck and pool
Pool Upgrades Include:
- New Pebble Tec pool and spa finish (Level 1 selection)
- 6×6 Aquatica States Grey waterline tile
- New stainless steel handrails installed in existing anchors
- Standard white LED lighting for pool and spa
- Full pool preparation including chipping, undercutting tile, and refitting fittings
