Matera A list of the most common questions that we get.

Q? How long have you been in the construction industry?

A. We have been in the construction industry in SW Florida for over 15 years.  Our company was founded in 2009.

Q? Are you licensed and insured?

A. Yes.  Jacob Carter is licensed by the State of Florida as a State Certified General Contractor.  We also hold liability, workers comp and auto insurance policies with an A+ rated company.

Q? How long does it take to finish a remodel?

A. It all depends on the extent of the work being done.  If you’re just remodeling your kitchen, it takes on average about 2-3 weeks.  If you are going to tear everything out down to the studs and concrete, it can take 3-4 months.

Q? Can the project be done while I’m out of town?

A. Yes.  Many of our clients are seasonal residents, who have us work while they are up North.

Q? Would it be better to remodel or build?

A. There are many factors to that answer.  First and foremost, is location.  You can always change the way a building looks and feels, but you can’t change its location.  If you love where you are but not how it looks, remodel is the way to go. Another major consideration is impact fees. You will pay impact fees on new construction, but not a remodel.  This can be a substantial savings.

Q? I want to remodel/build, but I don’t know where to start. Can you help?

A. Absolutely.  Give us a call and we’ll be happy to meet with you to find out what you’d like to do and help you develop a personalized plan of action.

Q? If trim & finish materials are the last thing done, why do I need to pick them out first?

A. When planning, you have to start at the end and work your way back.  The trim & finish materials you pick will dictate the materials needed behind the drywall, under the floor, etc.

Q? I am ready to start building/remodeling. What’s the first step?

A. The first step is drawings – everything about your project will be based off that.  If it’s a smaller job where drawings aren’t necessary, picking out your trim and finish materials is the first step.

Q? I need to file an insurance claim to repair damage. Do you work with insurance companies?

A. Yes, we have worked with homeowners and insurance companies to facilitate rebuilding under an insurance claim.

Q? Do you have references?

A. Yes, we have many clients who are happy to be references for us.  Please contact our office for contact information.
